LWJGL Coaching

What is “LWJGL coaching”?

“LWJGL coaching” is a thirty-minute session in which you are personally taught a specific topic of OpenGL and LWJGL by me, Oskar Veerhoek. I author this website and the TheCodingUniverse YouTube channel.

Why should you sign up for “LWJGL coaching”?

You will grasp difficult subjects easily because of the interactiveness in the sessions. Experience has shown that a one-on-one tutoring environment is the fastest way to learn complex subjects such as OpenGL shaders or OpenGL vertex buffer objects.

The personalised learning process is more effective than a one-way Internet video. Since it can be adjusted to your personal needs, your learning experience will be more pleasant. You determine the learning speed.

After the coaching session, I will answer an additional two questions about LWJGL and OpenGL by e-mail or through Skype. There is nothing more annoying than re-encountering a maze of problems the second after the session has ended and I know that. Should you have a question, you get priority.

My YouTube channel is proof that I am qualified to tutor in LWJGL. This YouTube channel has thousands of active viewers, nearly half a million video views, and an exceptional like-to-dislike ratio (117:1 in February 2013). I recommend you take a look at the comments below any one of my videos to find out what people have to say about them.

I have done LWJGL coaching for over eight months, so I know what works and what does not. At the bottom of this page you can find testimonials of both the coaching programme and the YouTube channel.

How can you set up a coaching session?

If you are interested in joining the international customer base, send an e-mail to coaching@thecodinguniverse.com including the following:

– the topic you want to have covered (you may list multiple topics)
– how much you already know about OpenGL and LWJGL
– the time and date in in the Central European Summer Time Zone (CEST) when you are available
– your Skype username

After you have sent your e-mail, I will reply with one or several detailed proposals for the coaching session. Sometimes I have to decline your request, because I know too little about the suggested topics.

As soon as we agree on a specific topic, I will arrange a time and date for the session. Typically, the session can be scheduled within a week.

Note: The money needs to be transferred before the session. One thirty-minute session currently costs ten euros (convert currency).

I approached Oskar for some one-to-one coaching on the topics of OpenGL that still confuse me. In keeping with the excellent tutorials that he has so generously provided to the public, his coaching sessions are clear, constructive, and have further helped me to move beyond the basics. As you’ll know from his youtube series, Oskar is an intelligent, enthusastic, and enterprising individual whom I feel has lots to offer beginners and advanced users of OpenGL alike. His private coaching sessions are highly recommended: you can choose the topic that you want to cover, and this kind of service would normally be out of reach to most people. I fully intend to request further sessions covering Shaders, VBO’s, Mesh parsing, Cameras and more, so that any questions that I may have picked up from the tutorials can be answered in detail.

The tutorial was good because you can ask whatever question you need and get help instantly. Instead of having to wait for several hours spamming the F5 key until someone finally comments to help you on YouTube.
I would highly recommend Oskar’s service because the tutorials are easy to follow, not expensive at all, and he is friendly and helpful.

Thanks for the great videos! It seems I fit your target
audience perfectly as I am a fairly experienced programmer with no OpenGL knowledge at all. In fact, I tried to learn OpenGL about 13 years ago (when I was 15 and had much less programming experience) and I failed entirely. But with university-level math knowledge (matrices, projective space etc..) it is really simple and good to understand :) Anyway, besides thanking you I also wanted to let you know that I will use your videos to keep the better students busy while I explain once again how arrays and for loops work. Have you ever thought about becoming a teacher as well?

I found about Oskar on YouTube where he has a channel dedicated to 3D game programming. His approach to teaching was professional – written code beforehand, straight to the point and most importantly good English.
After I had added Oskar on an IRC, he didn’t have any problem explaining and helping me with any problems I had.
I can honestly say that Oskar is the one who got me into the 3D programming world. He’s a nice person in general, understands a massive amount of information, and is still young. He’s going far this way!

I wanted to design a game, using and understanding the Lighweight Java Gaming Library (OpenGL). So I found the videos from thecodinguniverse and was pretty surprised how good the first video was. There are not many good tutorials, but the ones from thecodinguniverse are clearly structured and easy for getting into the 2d and 3d environment of Java. The tutorials are easy to understand. Also the code snipplets offered are very nice to understand and are explained well. So finally the tutorials helped me a lot understanding LWJGL. I hope more people like Oskar would be on the Internet helping other people like me.

When I originally commented I appear to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I
receive four emails with the exact same comment.

Perhaps there is a means you are able to remove me from that
      service? Many thanks!
