About TheCodingUniverse

TheCodingUniverse was launched in October of 2011 by Oskar Veerhoek. It consists of two parts: the YouTube channel and the website. Both host free tutorials on OpenGL and LWJGL for intermediate Java developers.

About the author

My name is Oskar Veerhoek and I am a fifteen-year-old high school student. I have been raised internationally, being born on the west coast of the United States and having gone to primary school in the United Kingdom. Because of this, I speak English, Dutch, and German. Currently, I am at a Dutch grammar school, a high school that stresses the importance of classical languages. The main reason I started TheCodingUniverse was so annoyed that I could not find valuable resources on LWJGL that I decided to create my own.

I am glad for writing to make you know what a notable encounter my wife’s girl had studying your web site. She mastered several pieces, which include what it’s like to possess an awesome helping nature to let other individuals with ease know precisely some problematic subject matter. You truly exceeded people’s expectations. Thank you for producing these practical, trusted, informative and in addition fun tips about this topic to Kate.

Hi blogger, if you need articles for your website or for tier1 contextual backlinks you
should read about Stoonkels Rewriter – it’s very useful online tool, just google

I just read that you speak German. LWJGL Tutorials in German would be a dream , because I always have to stop the viseos to relisten and use translators when some specials words or technical terms appear. But I guess that will never happen 😀

Anyway your tutorials are great, I would just like some more videos of modern OpenGl where you don’t have matrices, glEnableClientState() or glNormal/VertexPointer().
    Keep it up !

      Hello Nils,

First off, sorry for the late reply.

Would you like a glossary with the most important terms I use in the videos, translated to German?

      Thank you for the suggestion!

      Kind regards,
      Oskar Veerhoek

I’m so happy to see your tutorial and you have good way to explain the codes, but I was looking for something specific. I couldn’t figure it out. Can you help me about that?

I’m only fourteen, (and I’m Dutch), so I guess my time will come 😀
But really, keep up the good work!
(I always skip the Dutch tutorials because I don’t think it is appropriate to listen to programming tutorials in Dutch, but I heard a Dutch accent first time I listened :D)

I am not going to be able to express this as eloquently as I want to because your post and the comments have me teary-eyed and the hair on my arms is standing straight up – adoption is such a powerful emotional topic. I just want to add my thumbs up for open adoption. My sister gave her beautiful baby boy to an adoptive family 12 years ago….and our entire family mourned the loss. And we are counting the days until we can contact him or he contacts us.

If you haven’t guessed (by the greeting), I’m in Australia – I’ve been developing plugins for a minecraft server software called ‘bukkit’ for a while now, all the plugins are written in Java. Was loving java, and wanted to learn a bit more about the subject of Game Development using LWJGL – Found these videos very useful for getting started! I just want to say thanks very much! I’m about to move onto C++ – I’ve coded in about 15 languages over the years and only very, very briefly touched C++ (not much beyond the stage of “Hello World…”), and I am using your vids! I would also like to thankyou of taking the foresight of translating all your vids into text – I only get 6GB of inet a month, and I don’t want to use it up too quickly.

So, once again, thanks again, and I’ll let you know how I get on.
